Long Island Disc Jockeys or Live Bands?

At most events, especially wedding receptions, it can seem hard to choose between Long Island disc jockeys or live bands. Each has certain benefits and drawbacks that you need to choose between and decide which benefits are most important to you.
For someone looking for a live music experience, of course a live band is the better choice. They can play your favorite songs and provide a unique atmosphere for the event or reception. But if the preference is music as it sounds on the recordings, as performed by the original artists, then a Long Island DJ is the best choice. The DJ will play the songs and you'll get the original sound, while a live band will always make embellishments and interpretations.
You have a wider variety of songs to choose from with a Long Island disc jockey than a live band in almost every case. Live bands can't know every song you'd like to hear at your event, which means they'd have to learn the song to perform it. A DJ can find almost any song and play it, so for more variety you'll want to choose a DJ over a live band.
If you want a specialty type of music like Dixieland, jazz, big band or other 'period' music, a live band could be a good choice because they might wear costumes and give that old-timey performance you'd like to add to the visual part of the performance. A Long Island DJ can play the music but you won't get the same visual impact.
Consider the size of your hall or venue. Live bands play loud, and at a smaller gathering that could be too much. Long Island disc jockeys, on the other hand, can adjust their volume to almost any size room.
And another benefit to choosing a Long Island disc jockey over a live band is the cost. A live band can't cost 75% more than a good, experienced DJ.
