How to Compare Long Island Disc Jockeys

If you're looking for Long Island disc jockeys to play your event, wedding reception or other type of party, there are several questions you should ask and several things you should be sure of before you hire one.
Ask them what kind of equipment they use. If they really can't supply you with concrete answers about the sound system, speakers and other equipment without too much delay, then chances are the Long Island disc jockey you're talking to doesn't know what kind of equipment it is, which could mean he's not that familiar with the equipment. That could be bad if something should go wrong at your event. A disc jockey who's not familiar with the equipment isn't going to easily be able to make those last minute adjustments, replacements and repairs that might become necessary to save the day.
Also, if they can't name some brand names right away, they could be using cheap or sub-standard equipment. The quality of the sound depends on the equipment, as does the Long Island disc jockey's reliability. So pay close attention to the answers you get.
Also, ask for references. They should be able to supply some information about the types of events that they've worked before to help you realize that they do quality events and are proud of them. Ask what time they'll be there, and be sure you have a number where you can reach a person--not a voice mail system--if something should go wrong and the DJ is late.
And finally, it's best to hire Long Island disc jockeys who are recommended to you by family and friends, or whom have actually played events that family and friends have been at. Whether you know someone who has hired them, or just someone who was at an event they worked, get all the impressions you can about the quality of the entertainment, the music and how easy or not the Long Island disc jockey was to work with before you sign a contract.
